Corpse of a Zeta Reticulan
ILLUSTRATIVE RECONSTRUCTION // NOT EVIDENCE

Overview

A Reddit post titled “Corpse of a Zeta Reticulan” has circulated an image purportedly showing the body of an extraterrestrial being. The post offers no verifiable information about where the image originated, who created it, or how it was obtained. Its claims appear to be connected to the broader mythology surrounding alleged visitors from the Zeta Reticuli star system, but the image itself has not been authenticated by a government agency, scientific institution, or independent forensic investigation.

The video associated with the discussion focuses on a separate but related piece of UFO lore: grainy, black-and-white footage commonly known as “Skinny Bob.” The clip shows what appears to be a humanoid figure with an unusually large, hairless head, a narrow chin, and prominent dark eyes. The entity’s facial movements—including apparent blinking and subtle motion around the mouth—are presented as evidence by some viewers that the figure is biological rather than an artificial model.

The Footage and Its Claims

The footage is presented in a heavily degraded vintage style, with film grain, visual noise, and frame instability designed to resemble mid-20th-century 16mm or 35mm film. The figure’s skin appears smooth but slightly wrinkled, while its facial proportions closely resemble the “Grey” alien archetype popularized by modern UFO reports and science fiction.

The clips were uploaded to YouTube in May 2011 by an anonymous account identified as “Ivan 0135.” According to claims associated with the account, the material was allegedly extracted from secret KGB documents and showed a diplomatic mission involving extraterrestrial visitors between 1942 and 1969. Those claims have never been independently substantiated. The name “Skinny Bob” was assigned by the online UFO community and does not appear to have originated from any verified historical record.

Authenticity Debate

Supporters of the footage argue that the entity’s facial mechanics appear unusually convincing. They point to the timing of the apparent blinks, the movement of the mouth, and subtle changes in the facial muscles as indications that the subject may have been filmed rather than digitally generated. Some proponents have also argued that producing comparable computer-generated imagery in 2011 would have required considerable technical skill and expense.

Skeptics, however, note that visual realism alone cannot establish provenance. Digital analysts have suggested that the footage may incorporate commercially available “old film” effects, including filters associated with software such as Boris FX. Other explanations include a sophisticated digital animation, a practical-effects puppet, or test footage created for an unreleased film project. No verified creator, production company, archive, or government source has publicly claimed responsibility for the material.

Context and Assessment

The absence of documentation is central to evaluating both the “Skinny Bob” footage and the alleged Zeta Reticulan image. Neither item is accompanied by a reliable chain of custody, original negatives, authenticated metadata, eyewitness testimony, or independent physical evidence. The Reddit post in particular provides no information sufficient to determine whether its image depicts a real specimen, a manufactured prop, an edited photograph, or an artwork created for online circulation.

As a result, the material remains part of modern UFO folklore rather than established evidence of extraterrestrial life. The footage may represent an elaborate hoax, an effects experiment, or an unidentified recording—but its origin and subject remain unverified. Its enduring popularity reflects the continuing appeal of purported secret archives and alleged encounters, while also demonstrating why extraordinary claims require transparent sourcing and independent examination.
