Marfa Yegorovna’s Alien-in-the-Refrigerator Photographs — Petrozavodsk, Russia — 2009–2011
ILLUSTRATIVE RECONSTRUCTION // NOT EVIDENCE

The Alleged Discovery

Photographs circulating online and in Russian media are being presented as evidence of a small, nonhuman body allegedly found near Petrozavodsk, Karelia, between 2009 and 2011. The images are attributed to Marfa Yegorovna, an elderly woman who reportedly lived in Petrozavodsk. According to the account summarized by the Alien Archivist, Yegorovna and her husband were staying near Mashezero, outside the city, when they heard what she described as a violent crash.

The couple allegedly went outside and found twisted metal and the body of a small humanoid. The figure was reportedly 50 to 60 centimeters tall, with an unusually large head, broad eye sockets and a wide mouth. Descriptions published in connection with the case compared its appearance to a combination of a human, a fish and a frog. The material does not establish what caused the reported crash or whether authorities documented wreckage at the site.

Photographs and the Refrigerator Claim

Yegorovna reportedly said that she and her husband placed the body in their car and transported it to their apartment in Petrozavodsk. There, the remains were allegedly wrapped and stored inside a refrigerator—or freezer—for approximately two years. The photographs show a small, pale figure lying among or beside ordinary household items, but the available source provides no forensic examination, medical assessment or independent identification of the object.

The images were later published by Russian outlets and reproduced internationally. On November 16, 2011, ReporterUA reportedly ran the photographs under the headline, “Russian Woman Kept an Alien Corpse in the Freezer for Two Years.” Another cited report, from Petrozavodsk Govorit / TVR-Panorama, used the title “Alien in the Refrigerator.” These reports helped establish the case’s enduring label as the Petrozavodsk alien corpse.

Alleged Removal by Scientific Representatives

The account further states that, in 2011, two men visited Yegorovna’s apartment and identified themselves as representatives of a scientific organization. They allegedly took the body away for examination. No organization is identified in the supplied material, and there is no documented chain of custody, laboratory report or public account of what happened to the alleged remains afterward.

Yegorovna also reportedly claimed that the wreckage near Mashezero disappeared soon after the incident. That detail has contributed to the story’s appeal within paranormal circles, but it remains an unverified assertion. The available source does not include police records, emergency-service reports, named witnesses or other independent evidence confirming that a crash or recovery occurred.

Questions About the Timeline

A significant complication concerns the chronology of the photographs. The editor of the paranormal website Phantoms & Monsters reportedly recognized at least one image and said he had received it approximately three years earlier, around 2008. In that earlier version, the same or a similar photograph was said to depict a strange body kept in a refrigerator in St. Petersburg, rather than Petrozavodsk.

That discrepancy does not by itself establish that the images are fabricated, but it raises questions about their origin, dating and subsequent retelling. It also illustrates how extraordinary photographs can acquire changing captions and locations as they are reposted across media and online communities.

Evidence and Public Record

The Reddit post and the archive material reviewed here provide photographs and a narrative attributed to Yegorovna, but no independent verification, provenance documentation or additional evidence. There is no publicly cited autopsy, DNA analysis, authenticated crash debris or confirmed statement from a scientific institution. As a result, the images can document the circulation of an unusual claim, but they do not, on the available record, demonstrate the presence of an extraterrestrial body. Further assessment would require original image files, contemporaneous records, identified witnesses and transparent examination of the object itself.
