Interview Overview
A recent Reality Check interview with NewsNation special correspondent Ross Coulart examined the extraordinary claims of Chris Bledsoe, a former North Carolina construction contractor and author of UFO of God. The discussion focused on Bledsoe’s reported encounters with unidentified aerial phenomena, his alleged interactions with government officials and scientists, and his belief that the events are connected to spirituality and human consciousness.
The interview follows an online post titled “From the Book of Bledsoe, timestamp 27:16,” which links to a Reddit-hosted image or video excerpt. The available text from that post is truncated and begins by referring to two unnamed individuals as “charlatans.” It provides no additional substantiated claims or meaningful discussion. The broader interview, however, presents a detailed account of Bledsoe’s experiences and interpretations.
The 2007 Encounter
Bledsoe said his life changed on January 8, 2007, during a fishing trip near the Cape Fear River. At the time, he described himself as facing financial hardship and serious health problems related to Crohn’s disease. According to his account, he separated from his sons and other members of the group to pray, after which he encountered a large object accompanied by multiple luminous orbs.
Bledsoe reported experiencing approximately four hours of “missing time.” He also claimed that his Crohn’s disease subsequently disappeared, describing the recovery as miraculous. In the years that followed, he said he continued to encounter what he calls “angelic entities,” including a figure known as “The Lady.” These claims remain matters of personal testimony and have not been independently verified through publicly available medical or investigative records.
Alleged Government and Scientific Interest
A central part of Bledsoe’s account concerns alleged interest from American government agencies and scientific institutions. He said that approximately ten officials—including individuals he identified as being associated with NASA, the National Science Foundation and the Food and Drug Administration—visited his home around Easter 2024. Bledsoe claimed the visitors observed between 50 and 60 orbs appear after he prayed.
He also described contacts with individuals identified as NASA official Tim Taylor and former CIA officer Jim Semivan. Bledsoe said Taylor briefed then-President Barack Obama about phenomena witnessed at the Bledsoe property, although the interview did not present documentary evidence confirming that assertion. Bledsoe further attributed a sweeping statement to NASA figure Hal Povenmire, saying he was told that “all astronauts” had seen UAPs in space. He also cited astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s well-known interest in consciousness and the UFO question.
Spiritual Interpretations and Future Predictions
Bledsoe does not characterize the phenomena primarily as extraterrestrial visitors. Instead, he describes the orbs as consciousness-related manifestations that can allegedly be summoned through prayer, joy and what he calls a heart-centered emotional state. He also pointed to a perceived connection between UAP witnesses and near-death experiences, noting that both he and fellow experiencer Jake Barber have survived such events.
The interview also addressed Bledsoe’s predictions. He described a vision involving a missile exchange between Iran and Israel and said the orbs appeared around the world to help reduce the threat of war. He further predicted a major shift in public understanding in April 2026, linking the date to an astronomical alignment involving the star Regulus and Egypt’s Sphinx. No scientific evidence has established a connection between that alignment and UAP disclosure.
Personal Cost and Disclosure Claims
Bledsoe said his experiences brought significant strain to his family. He recalled being ostracized by members of a Baptist church, facing accusations that the phenomena were demonic, and enduring alleged attempts at exorcism. He also described a visit from Child Protective Services, while saying his children ultimately supported him after witnessing events they interpreted as unusual.
Coulthart concluded by emphasizing what he characterized as a contrast between the government’s public skepticism and alleged private investigations. Bledsoe remains convinced that disclosure is “inevitable,” possibly through a global event involving the entities themselves. The interview offers a prominent experiencer’s perspective, but the government contacts, medical recovery, sightings and predictions described remain unverified claims rather than established findings.
