Overview
A Reddit post circulating in r/aliens claims that a large, cube-shaped object appeared near the Sun before disappearing moments later. The post presents a solar image as evidence, but the material currently available does not include independent verification, peer-reviewed analysis, or comments from solar-imaging specialists confirming that the feature represents a spacecraft or other physical object.
The claim was amplified by UFO researcher Scott Waring, who discussed related imagery in a video published October 17 and in a follow-up article on UFO Sightings Daily. A separate report published October 19 described the apparent event as a “giant UFO” emerging from the Sun. Neither the Reddit post nor the accompanying reports establishes that the object is artificial, extraterrestrial, or even a discrete object outside the Sun.
What the Images Appear to Show
According to the reports, the imagery was obtained from the SOHO/LASCO C2 archive, a publicly available collection of coronagraph observations maintained by NASA and the European Space Agency. Coronagraphs block the bright solar disk to make the surrounding corona and solar activity visible. In the referenced sequence from October 17, an apparent large, rounded or ring-like feature seems to appear near the obscured Sun, while a dark, angular shape resembling a cube is visible briefly in front of or beside it.
Waring interprets the feature as a planet-sized spacecraft leaving the Sun. He has also suggested that a highly advanced craft might draw energy from the star or operate within a protected structure inside it. Those ideas go substantially beyond what can be established from a short sequence of processed images. The reports additionally connect the discussion to Planet X and Nibiru, but provide no evidence linking either hypothetical body to the solar imagery.
Possible Conventional Explanations
Unusual shapes in solar photographs can result from several non-anomalous causes. Coronagraph data may contain instrument artifacts, detector noise, cosmic-ray strikes, image-compression effects, transmission errors, or changes between individual frames. The blocked solar disk and the geometry of the instrument can also create visual boundaries that appear object-like when viewed in isolation. A cube-like appearance in one frame, followed by its absence in another, does not by itself demonstrate that a three-dimensional object moved through space.
Determining the feature’s nature would require examination of the complete, original-resolution image sequence, calibration data, timestamps, instrument status, and observations from other solar observatories. Analysts would also need to establish whether the feature moved consistently across multiple frames and whether it was recorded independently by instruments operating at different wavelengths or from different vantage points.
Evidence Remains Unresolved
The source material does not identify any confirmation from NASA, the European Space Agency, professional solar physicists, or independent imaging experts. It also does not provide measurements of the object’s size, distance, speed, or trajectory—information necessary to support the claim that it was “planet-sized” or located outside the Sun.
For now, the alleged cube remains an unverified visual anomaly. The imagery may attract attention because its geometry appears striking, but appearance alone cannot establish an extraterrestrial origin. Until the underlying data are independently analyzed, the most responsible conclusion is that the feature’s identity remains unknown, with an imaging artifact or processing effect among the plausible explanations.
