He describes the craft as initially resembling a hot air balloon, but soon realized it was something entirely different: “When I got close to it with my van, it started pacing my van… I got my camcorder out and I started videotaping this object while the object reorientated itself and literally shot to about a thousand feet in a blink of an eye.”
He further described the object’s characteristics: rotating spheres beneath a larger structure, emitting no sound until departure, and leaving behind a powerful sonic boom. “It made no sound until it popped away and it made this sonic explosion that I felt could feel in my shirt,” Romanek recalls. The sighting was corroborated by numerous independent witnesses and even prompted a local news segment, with Fox 31 News reporting, “A Lakewood man sees something unusual in the sky, grabs his video camera.”
