Overview
Dozens of reports describing unusual objects in the Welsh sky have been compiled in a new searchable map covering sightings recorded between January 2021 and July 2026. The archive includes accounts of a “Tic-Tac”-shaped object near Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and a pulsating orb reported over Tonteg, alongside reports of lights, spheres and other objects across Wales.
The material records witness accounts and does not establish that the objects were extraterrestrial, or that they remained unidentified after investigation. “UFO” is used here in its traditional sense of an object a witness could not readily identify at the time.
What the database shows
The map was created using reports collected by research group UFO Identified, which has assembled a central public archive known as the UK UFO Database. The organisation says almost 2,000 reports have been documented across the UK over the past five years, with dozens originating in Wales. The archive is intended to allow users to search by location and help researchers examine potential patterns in the reports.
According to the source material, orbs, spheres and “star-like” objects make up much of the UK data. However, the database also contains 164 reports of wedge- or triangle-shaped objects, equivalent to approximately one in every 12 logged sightings. The accounts range from observations over rural and coastal areas to reports near populated places and military sites.
Welsh sightings and wider comparisons
Among the Welsh accounts highlighted are the reported Tic-Tac-shaped object above Yr Wyddfa and the pulsating orb seen over Tonteg. The descriptions are based on what witnesses said they observed; the available material does not provide independent confirmation, photographs, radar data or a formal identification for either case.
The Welsh reports are presented alongside similar accounts from elsewhere in Britain. A “large black triangle” with a red light at each point was reportedly seen hovering over Stretford, Greater Manchester, for more than 30 minutes on July 22, 2026. Other reports cited include a “perfect triangle” over Chesterfield, a black V-shaped object over the Fylde coast and a soundless wedge above Exmouth.
International context
The article also links the British reports to recently publicised US UAP material. It says the Pentagon released declassified files following an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, including an account from two federal agents at a US “sensitive national security site” in June 2026. They reportedly described a matte-black triangular object, estimated to have a 15-foot wingspan, hovering silently about 300 feet above the ground before descending rapidly into a canyon without a visible exhaust trail.
Such accounts have attracted attention because of their apparent similarities, but descriptions alone cannot determine whether sightings involve aircraft, drones, satellites, atmospheric effects, misidentified stars or other conventional explanations. The database’s role is to preserve and organise reports, rather than verify every observation.
Assessing the reports
Ash Ellis, founder of UFO Identified, said: “There are thousands of people across the UK who have seen something they could not readily explain.” That distinction is central to interpreting the map: an unexplained sighting is not automatically evidence of an extraordinary craft.
The interactive archive may nevertheless help identify recurring locations, descriptions and timing, while also showing where additional evidence would be needed. For now, the Welsh reports remain witness testimonies catalogued for further research, rather than confirmed encounters with unidentified or non-human technology.
